Hippocampus in the Wild

Let my brain get lost

in word search bubbles.

To dance with wild abandon

in the riddle-me-that’s

at a math problem gala.

Push colors and clues in a box

then shake it up into a puzzle

that tingles down the spine.

An adrenaline rush

of a countdown timer

and hands full locks

clamped shut with letters,

numbers and directions.

I want to learn to build

exits from flat pieces of paper

and scribble out ladders

with cryptic word problems.

To feel my mind tipping

over in energy sparks

and fingertip flickers.

Shuffle around the mundane

until I create a collage

of a world upside down

and a mind right side up.
