Soft Home

Ocean somersaults the boats

upon its tongue,

and we watch them sway

on storm cloud disco.

The seagulls float

as tiny buoys

for our eyes to follow.

We can time the waves

to the bobbing of tail feathers.

We play tag with the ocean

and chase after the water

as it pulls back

to show pieces of seaweed

and broken shells.

It reminded me of your living room

of green shag carpet and loose legos.

Sprinkle of glass around the corners

of the couch reminds me of missing frames

and the water dancing beneath the sun.

We spend time at the ocean

so our feet can have a soft home.
