The sky exploded into a roar
and my cardboard wall apartment shook.
The lights flickered
as Mother Nature slammed her hands
against the clouds.
Thunder clamored overhead
and my body rattled into the ground.
She quaked the heavens
until snow ran down her arms
to cover the roads.
The children cheered for each piece
of freedom that landed on the ground,
while the parents groaned inwardly.
When the thunder rolled over my apartment,
it shuddered the electricity
until the internet disconnected
and reset me back to books and candlelight.
Time reset with each
crash and boom from above.
