Laughter

In another world,

laughter is currency

and the wealthiest people

are surrounded by giggling hearts

and gracious hands.

Capitalism is boogeyman

in night-time stories for children

so they can learn the lessons

of materialism and personal profit.

I am not saying their aren’t individuals

with too much and vaults of wealth,

but they understand giving-

to reach out and hold someone’s hand

without need of favors,

and to divide their chuckles

and share those with empty mouths.

The citizens practice the faith of kindness

without between lines tucked in lips,

and listen for the sway in hearts

that tremble out help.

They learn the language of acceptance

and lead each day with open arms

and unbiased minds

in another world.
