The Band

The band took the stage

in flashing applause and symphony growls.

The audience became their instruments

with tempo limbs and crescendo eyes.

Their bodies evolved into string instruments

and the beat plucked at them, until the crowd

jumped and shook in electricity.

The lights captured them in harmony

and the melody of their shadows

stretched across the walls.

The music swallowed up the masses

and devoured up each of their names,

until they morphed into a mob of adoration.

Groupies of rhythm and lyrics, they swarm

the stage and reached up to pay homage

in open palms, idol eyes and worship tongues,

and the band became a temple

of all their emotions and faith.
