Bless the vacation day.
The hours we pull ourselves away
from routine of time cards and tasks.
The time we invest seconds
back into ourselves.
Pull in a restart
tugging in beneath closed eyes
as we sleep in the first day away.
Push the reset button
over and over
until you sit back
with a warm cup of coffee
and bad television.
We construct a list of chores;
to mimic the productivity of the work week,
then contrive every excuse
to remain curled up with a slow sip.
Bless the vacation day,
when it reminds us
we can stand still,
we can rest,
we can do nothing,
and it is okay.
