Close my eyes, disconnecting
from the noise
funneling through the every day
grasping for silence
trying to find time, a moment
I will steal, pulling
from the blurry horizon
a tiny thread
I will wrap around my finger
to remind me
that my feet can run forward quickly
or come to a complete stop
and sometimes you need
to let traffic rush by
before you cross the street
stand and absorb the shock waves
for hours are thunderous
the days storm, and I want
to tilt my head back, catching
every moment that rains down
