For All Parents

You are

A force of nature

The brightest light in the room

The porchlight left on

The open door, a welcoming embrace

You are

The fiercest cry

Even when you are silent

The hand reached for

The guiding voice

The focal point, the center of attention

Know for every slammed door

Every shed tear

Every shouting match

Every I hate you

The battle scars, war torn fights

You will be greeted

With tight hugs

Ongoing questions

Late night stowaways

And side splitting laughter

You are

A force of nature

The fiercest cry in the room

And the world comes

You would meet it head-on

With bared teeth and sharpened claws
You are

A force of nature
