Text and Wasted Time

End of a friendship

Captured in a text

That it had been fleeting

For the both of us

I felt the chapter of you close

And my rage and sadness

Torched our history

Until your name

Nothing more grit, and ash upon tongue

My son had forgotten

What you looked like

And I severed every memory

Loose cords dangling and dancing

Leaving the tips frayed and dead

And I had forgotten

Everything about you

And only wasted time in your place
