30 Day Poetry Challenge Day 5-Crayons

Day 5- Write a poem including the line, “You’re never too old to draw with crayons.”

He had been young

A fresh morning

He was so bright

That she forgot

The brokenness of her back

And she wanted to touch his skin

To feel its smooth waxiness

So she could recreate herself

In his glow, and she forgot

The grayness lingering in her smile

And she wanted her outlines to burst

Open and bleed out in neon sparks

For he had been so bright, so young

She wanted to peel back the layers of his laughter

To find herself, glowing

She was never too old to draw with crayons

Sometimes she wanted to remember

how magenta or cerulean felt upon her skin
