Orange (Repost May 2016)

Her pointed ears stretched to the sky
She was a burst of orange
On the edge of the church
Not far from the festivities
She was geared for war
Orange war paint streaked across her face
Perched against the church
Glaring at her cellphone
Watched as her fingers madly texted
Every word a command
The battle had begun, back and forth banter
And it appeared
Even elves couldn’t escape the technological age
