Growing Puddles (Repost June 2016)

Rain snuck in today
Drops wedged in the corner
Of my eyes
Soon, my skin
Saturated in overcast
And clouds nested upon my mouth
My lips somber
And eyes gray
I watched from windows
As the day cried
And I hid inside
Lullabies weren’t always sweet
But they all helped you sleep
Apathy puddled in the parking lot
Hope found in children’s feet
As they stomped and jumped
Through the growing puddles
