City of my Bones (Repost November 2016)

The chill sets within my bones
As the morning rattles me awake
My eyes flickering neon
About to go out
When the siren of the alarm
Jars me awake, and I
Pull myself from the wreckage yard of my bed
Rebuild myself with layers of caffeine and cotton
A little fresh paint
Makes anything look livable
And as the day begins
I should look as alive as I can get
