Summer Taste

His name still lingers
Upon my mouth
It rattles me awake
In the middle of the afternoon
And I remember
Dancing hands and laughter
When the world
Spun in palms of hands
And his voice
Could silence the noise
Rumbling in my head
He is a fleeting thought
Anymore
A summer I let go
Years ago
But every once in a while
He shows up
Upon my tongue
I silently long for his shadow
One more time
Then curse his name
Under my breath
As a bitter taste fills my mouth
