Small Town

She charged the sun
Took over the hills
And at the end of the day
Still had time to smile
And enjoy the simpler things
Community and heart
Rested upon her shoulders
She understood the art of giving
And the art of listening
A fierce soul, she knew
The obstacles and the opportunities
And she faced each one
With a steady stride and sharp wit
A small town girl with huge spirit
One of the first people I looked up to
And I could still her strength and mischief in her eyes
