A Friday Night and A Convertible

A Friday night and a convertible

Two women, old friends with the wind getting tangled in their hair

They head for the city with a soundtrack of gossip to get them there

Their gray hair dancing like flames and eyes hiding behind dark sunglasses

They only look in the rearview mirror to catch sight

Of two girls in their twenties in a convertible on a Friday night

Heading for the city to go dancing downtown

Catching a few winks from strangers, and a martini or two

In the back booth of the French restaurant, flirting with the waiters

Chasing after the moon until waking up with the sun in the eyes

And breakfast wearing the dresses they wore the night before

Giggling and laughing, two girls becoming old friends

A Friday night and a convertible

And two women returning to their youth
