Love and Hate

Best friends, they walk hand and hand
Loving each other for their flaws
And secretly hating each other’s successes
Competition dictating their lives
For in the beginning, they have always been compared
Grown women, their smiles welcome affectionate words
And their tongues remain sharp for the strike
Brutal, they both are
When no one else is looking
The best of friends whom secretly hate each other
Enemies that exchange gifts
Neither one able to break down the walls
Neither one can just walk away
So they both love to hold each other in contempt
And they both hate they are unable to admire
Both lonely in the severity of their relationship
