S (National Poetry Month Challenge 9)

Write a poem to your favorite letter of the alphabet.

S is the beginning
A start that rolls off your tongue
With grace and authority
It hangs off your lips
Like a final goodbye
To a long distance lover
You want to stay another night
The delicate movement
The curve of its frame
Seductive, a mysterious stranger
You spy across the street
Through a café window
And you stand for another second
To admire the fragile structure of their mouth
The delicate way they hold the newspaper as they read it
It haunts your mouth
And you can’t wait to exorcise your ghosts
Come morning
For it is a beginning
Dancing upon your tongue
Leaving you feeling satisfied
With the masterpiece
You created with your voice
