Fluttering Aliens (Repost April 2015)

Mottephobia – fear of moths

Fluttering aliens

Crashing against the lights

Mad fervor the thumpings

Bang, bang, bang

You can hear them

Whacking mercilessly at the light cover

Mad little soldiers

Trying to gather light

They reek of old age and dust

Calculating, perching on doorways

You can see their beady black eyes, and shifting antennae

Plotting to steal the light

Clumsily flapping around and around

Mad fervor the thumping

Bang, bang, bang

Dive bombing into walls and doors

Eager greedy thieves

You can see them falling in the air

Fluttering in front of your face

Crashing into eyes, slapping into faces

Dangling and smashing against mouths

Until you can taste the dust and the old age

A vicious battle of swinging hands and paper wings

Each flap a little laugh

Mad fervor the thumping

Bang, bang, bang

Until it sails away, watching

Perching on doorways, calculating

Fluttering aliens

Waiting to steal the light
