Perdita (first published on my blog June 2015)

Perdita loved a boy
And the paparazzi loved her
Started as rich boy fell for a poor girl love story
So the reporters, the bloggers
Were ready to expose her
Then the real story broke
She was the long lost daughter of royalty
The flash bulbs flooded her front door
The day she was given the birth certificate
And she met her long lost father
Followed her confused stares and frightened stance
Pinned her down
Perdita had only fallen in love with a boy
A boy with more money
And she didn’t understand why they raided
Every drawer of her life
Trying to find something to pull apart
And smear across the front page
Perdita and that boy ran away
Fell in love and married away
From the flash bulbs and headlines
