Ladybug (first published on my blog May 2014)

Little ladybug

Dancing upon the hot concrete

Orange and black

You stumble and fumble along

Attempting to fly awkwardly

Toward the sky

Absentmindedly, you trip over yourself

Wavering and teetering

Intoxicated by the sun

It had been months since it last peeked out

From overcast and rainy skies

We all get a little carried away, little ladybug

Remember to keep a level head

And straighten up those wings
