Pinwheels (first published on blog November 2012)

Found myself nestled in a tree full of pinwheels

Each spinning rapidly

For they caught my emotions

And a silent tongue can’t extinguish this ache

So spinning spinning they must

Sending out a signal

In hopes I can have a sunrise again

Even though it has been dusk so long

I forgot what dawn looked like

I wish I smoked

Then could send out smoke signals

And for once, you could see me

I tried to flapping my arms and fly away

But silly girl, this isn’t that kind of dream

You were born with two feet and hands

So it is time

To either climb up and touch the sky

Or climb down and find your roots

Either way, it is time

For you to find yourself
