Insomnia (first published August 2012)

I am awake

Again to greet the sun

I want to curl up

With the moon

But my spot

Is no longer vacant

And the stars aren’t moving

I am left handing out

My dreams

So reality slips

Into blurred memories

That I could never

Quite grasp

I wish

For sleep

She is a kind mistress

And a cruel tease

So here I am again

Awake and greeting the sun
