Sliver of a smile

And I know the trouble is about to start

Mischief tucked behind your ear

You take my hand

And we start running

Past the skylines and the concrete

Twirling, twirling

You spin me around in this life

Promise to paint the moon silver

And the all the stars indigo

For only a whisper

For me to only give you a name

To hear your name fall from mouth

A sliver of hope, freedom

And I promise, I promise

To find you someday

Running wild along the hills

Sliver of a smile

And I knew trouble is about to start

Acidic are my words

I run wild in your gaze

You say my hair is on fire

Dare you, I whisper

Dare you to touch it

You don’t know when sunsets

Became within reach

Suddenly you want me to dance with you

Hold me close

Allow your hands to play me a lullaby

You sway with me under blue skies

Pull me closer

I remind you that I have sharp teeth

And a sharper tongue

My words are acidic

Each sentence burns you a little more

But you always chased after the sun

Didn’t know when sunsets became in reach

Dare you, I whisper

Dare you to try to hold me

I run wild in your gaze

Blind with the curve of my hip

Melt you under my gaze

Until you find yourself swaying under blue skies

I knew how to two step way before you showed up boy

So be careful

How close you pull me in

You say my hair looks like it is on fire

Laughing, laughing

I fall into the horizon of your desire

Dare you, I whisper

Dare you to follow me

With the wolves scratching at the door I will tip my head back and howl howl howl until day becomes night and let my hair down click at the moon with nails painted red and I will be chasing down the night and the moon won’t ever catch me so sit still boy and let me growl in your ear and I will show you how it feels to be wild untamed and come on howl howl howl into the darkness and each breath will waltz linger before your eyes for I will be there standing head up and while the wolves were running chasing down the rabbits I hovered before your doorway waiting to be welcomed in for will let my hair down and with red lips I will tell you my secrets and in return gather your pain so when you blink I will run away fading into the night let you howl howl howl out my name but the moon won’t ever catch me and know for a breath second how it feels to be free and wild so while the wolves were gathering I was following their footprints along the hills chasing after the night and I will howl howl howl out my name wishing to be reclaimed by the night and not left to the daylight

Autumn stains my fingertips

As I gradually slip on the reds

And yellows

For evening has come

Always liked how the fog rolled in

Curling around me

As if I am on fire

Wisps of smoke define me

And the moon is my spotlight

Beauty is in the evening breezes

Whispering in my ear

Teasing at my smile

I will linger in your gaze

And for a moment

You will only see me

Then much like fate

I will disappear again

Under a blanket of stars

With a mischievous grin

And a ghost in your mind

Embrace this moment

Twirling, twirling

I will dance to the seconds

Singing in my ears

Happiness tastes tangy on tongue

I will open my mouth

Drink down the rain of innocence

For a moment I will laugh with wild abandon

Forget consequences

I will chase after trouble

Snatching at its tail as it strides over the hill

Collecting poppies

I will have them tattooed on my hands

As a reminder

That today is bittersweet

Enjoy each whisper as a piece a candy

To be savored against lips

Come and kiss me

This pixie

Taste innocence and wild upon my mouth

Watch me closely

I will show you how fire burns

And simmers along my skin

Until we chase down the horizon

And find where the world ends

Then together we can learn to fly without wings

Night binds me in her darkness

Consumed into her cloak

Built within dreams

Slip away this identity

Become filled with your fantasies, your nightmares

Carrying them as keys

Dangling, dangling from wrist and hips

You can find me tucked within the wind

Rustling at the window

Pulling at your hair

The coolness biting at your heels

I spin this world upside down for you

If you like

Serenade you with mad laughter

Teach you how to unravel completely

In a few words, few movements, few steps

We will be dancing dancing

With night gradually pulling us deeper in

To some I am the night

Others just chaos

Some find me an unwelcomed quest

While others dance in reverence to me

Night binds me in her darkness

Love, lust, pain, fear, sadness

Are parlor games, and I will be her fingertips

Playing away this melody

Built upon your dreams

I will be every fantasy and nightmare

Dangling dangling within the distance

A tiny light is my smile

Tangling you upon moth’s wings

The web in the movement

Pulling you deeper into this darkness

I will tip this world over

Spilling out across the floor

Until the rules, roles, inhibitions, fear

Pool into your reflection

And I will sing for you

Let you spiral in a dance with your own shadow

To some I am a predator

Others just a ghost

Some find me an unwanted resolution

While others call me by name

Look closely, everyday you can find me

In the young woman alone with hair in rainbow, music bellowing war cry

In the homeless woman watching you with a smile, talking quietly

In the woman prim and proper, hands folded with fire in her eyes

In the little girl playing at dusk, hopscotch on squares designed on jagged lines

In the mother crying softly, overwhelmed and eyeing the horizon

In a woman lingering on the edge of the bar, smoke dancing from lips

Look closely, and you can find me

Close my eyes, running

Running through meadows

And I find myself

Chasing lightning crackling against my lips

And I am wild

Unforgiving is my gaze, and my blood howls

Against raging storms

And I find myself

Embracing the night and gathering the moon

And I am free

Merciful can be my touch, and my voice transcends

Shooting stars slicing across sky

And I find myself

Playing tag with fireflies, and leaping over rivers

And I am extraordinary

Following the horizon, I am soaring

Behind my eyes, dreaming

I am wild and free

Extraordinary is my name upon my tongue

To the night I will belong let me run along her shadows, climb through her wilds, and breath in her name and let it settle upon this tongue to the night I will be everything I am not supposed to be and so much more that you will never see within this veil this illusion of meekness because at night I will run free and wild embracing the howls prowling along my throat I will wrap myself up in the night and ride along the edges of the moon for I will be everything I am not supposed to be and so much more you will never see hiding in the eaves watching eyes iridescent slowly running my tongue along sharp teeth for who said I had to be the prey for so much more fun to be the predator gathering your outline up I let it burn into my eye along with your light flickering giggling to the night I will belong let me run along her shadows, climb through her wilds and breath in her name coiling through my fingers slipping down down down because I will be everything I am not supposed to be and so much more you will never imagine I could be and when you see me I will be your shadow stalking doorways teasing at you with my eyes iridescent and sharp teeth clicking out your name for it only takes a moment to devour someone consume them into the darkness flickering is this light within me and you will never see in the shadow of me to the night I will belong let me run along her shadows, climb through her wilds and breath her name dancing within the wind and I was always meant to be free you would say in passing me passing you my name coiling around your throat for I was always something you could never tame because I will be everything I am not supposed to be and so much more than you will ever imagine I could be.
